It is nice to meet you here, and we are excited to get to introduce ourselves to you.
You may have noticed that on the pictures throughout our website the same faces keep popping up, and you might wonder where we have found such devoted models.
Well, these faces belong to three sisters, who together run Uma Nomad. From the backoffice to the front of the camera, from making designs and selecting fabrics to packing boxes and answering emails. It's all just us the three of us, with a little help from some friends.
Below we will tell you a little about ourselves. What it is that we do behind the scenes to bring the most beautiful eco-friendly clothing we can imagine into this world.
Chaotic, creative and with a passion for handcraft and sustainability. Sammy is the slightly mad creative force behind Uma Nomad.
Together with her daughter; Joyaa, she travels the world. Every year choosing a different place in the world to settle and with a mission to find beautiful sustainable materials and crafts in the places she visits.
In 2015, when little Joyaa was born, Sammy started Uma Nomad and our mother company; Mamma Nomad.
Today, she is awkwardly writing something about herself in 3rd person. Because that is the style she choose to write this page in. She must have thought it would look professional like this, so she is going to stick with it.
Sammy writes the texts for our website, occasionally answers emails and posts on social media. But her work, her heart, really lays with finding the most beautiful sustainable fabrics this world's got to offer.
In attics and small warehouses, she sources through thousands of discarded fabrics without purpose, as little Joyaa finds her own new purpose in these piles of material as a slide or castle.
Together with designers and seamstresses much more skilled than herself, she turns these gorgeous fabrics into the clothing you find here on our website.
Kyah is the magician who takes all the madness surrounding Uma Nomad, and turns it into something beautiful. Something that we can present to you, and that you can make sense out of. Without her, our website would simply not exist.
All the imagery, logo's, designs, layouts, plans and systems on and behind our shop, that's her thing. She juggles all that we throw at her, and turns it into something functional and gorgeous.
She has built our studio, takes all the pictures and videos of our endless lines of new clothing - every single unique piece needing pictures for us to get to present them to you. She then sets the camera so that the next photo requires just a press of a button, jumps into a piece of clothing and strikes a pose. Then she edits the pictures, labels the clothing and organises them so we can all makes sense out of it again.
There's not a question she doesn't know an answer to, or a problem she doesn't find a solution for. Always cool-headed and inventive, she is a multi-talented super woman and a jewellery designer on the side.

Sophie is the voice, the face and the overall support of Uma Nomad. Everything that is Uma, is infused with this beauty of a human.
If you have ever actually spoken or interacted with Uma Nomad, you have had the pleasure of meeting Sophie. She is the sparkling presence behind our social media accounts, it's her that helps you when you need us, who advises you on colours or models that will fit you perfectly, this is the person you want to speak to for collaborations or wholesale opportunities or for a friendly chat.
Besides being Uma's spokesperson and customer support, she also handles all the shipping, manages the content of the webshop, shines on the lion's share of our pictures, travels with us, brings in great design ideas and organises photoshoots in every corner of the world.
If there's anything we struggle with, or lack knowledge off, Sophie is there to learn about everything that will help us become better.
Sophie's got a big beautiful heart for people, and with endless patience and care, she is here to help.

Tamar - aka The Tamanator - has joined our team in summer 2021, and we're so lucky she did. Have you checked out our instagram lately? That's just some of her work!
We found this badass babe five years ago in a little desert town in India, and life hasn't been the same since; we found family.
After years of meeting all over the world, we decided to travel together. Now, as I am writing this, she is sitting next to me, stitching digi-content together and looking fabulous in her fifth Uma Nomad outfit of the day.
As our business grew, and our working days got longer and more intense, she jumped in to relieve us of some of the pressure. And boy, did she.
With her funky dances, endless laughter, silly faces, iron focus, epic creativity and a playlist for any occasion, she took the forgotten corners of Uma Nomad and filled them with warmth and inspiration.
Now she manages our social media accounts; Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, makes all of the content, organises giveaways and other fun stuff for our followers, organises photoshoots, makes videos, runs our physical store in The Algarve, and basically is Uma's biggest fan. - You should hear her squeal when a new box arrives.
